Aspirants Mountain Cartoon Story

Loose rock! Unsafe steep chutes at almost 14,000 feet but what do the naive upstarts know? The story depicted in these cartoons, one likely recognizable to so many aspirant mountain climbers, really happened. I took some expressionistic liberties here as far as a precise profile and name of the mountain in question, but the spirit of the experience remains accurate as far as I can remember.

The originals are woodcut block prints. I use coated cherry oil-based inks and do my own cutting and printing. A contributor too many underground comix in the 1970s, I sidestepped from my manufacturing design and fine arts backgrounds into the bottom feeder world of cartooning and animated films. For a while I taught drawing and printmaking, then finally bought my own press and started full-scale making of multi-colored block prints. I prefer the hands-on labor intensity to the obedience of sitting in front of a computer.

Creating cartoons like characters

In this sequence, his works have a fairyland appeal. The imagery has been resulting from his immediate environment, creating cartoon-like hybrid forms that make it show surreal. Restless by nature, he moves with facility from one medium to another from drawings to water colors, oils, installation, film and performance which allows his imagination to soar, on the wings of creative imagination that bringing forth new forms and imagery. This is obvious in his present series. Where any object or form serves to bring about his memory which is extended to take a walk with his ideas projected as hallucinating forms.

With polyvalent vision at the heart of his works, an inscrutable aura mantles them. A quality that is so intentionally inherent as to be evocative and mysterious.

Balloon people have their own characters

Set of kids and funny nature with balloon heads. This idea began to form when I was making sculptures from real balloons in the '90s. I got a real feel for the balloons and loved picture their round shapes. The kids also have enemies called Poppers. In fact something spiky or sharp spells trouble if you've got a balloon head!

Think of the supernatural properties of the balloons: morphing, flying, twisting, expanding bursting and floating. The balloon represents the thoughts of a person which can carry them away to fantastic places.

New GI Joe, Transformers Cartoons On The Way?

Discovery and Hasbro team up for new kid's cable network.
by Matt Fowler
At the TCA Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California, Margaret Loesch – the Discovery Communications-Hasbro Joint Venture President and CEO – announced the creation of a new kid's cable channel, The Hub. In the fall 2010, the channel that is now know as Discovery Kids will be changed to "The Hub" and will provide children's content based on the 50/50 partnership of its parent companies, Discovery and Hasbro (Transformers, GI Joe)
From the press release: "The network will tap into the best production talent in the industry and for shows that will reinvigorate children's programming. Additionally, The Hub will incorporate cherished Hasbro properties, including Transformers and My Little Pony, and popular Discovery Kids franchises such as Adventure Camp and Flight 29 Down as part of a robust and diverse line up of original and acquired programming."
This new joint channel could offer up many opportunities for new series based on those Hasbro properties. Yes, that could mean we could finally see the GI Joe - Jem and the Holograms crossover story we've been clamoring for.

Two young men’s patronized

This cartoon shows two wheelchair users. One of them is a young white boy and also the other is a young black boy. The black boy is cringing as he is being patted on the head by a great white woman in a fur coat, fur hat and accessories. He is saying to his friend: I don't know whether I'm being patronized for being black or Disabled?!

Survey finds huge increase in kids media use

A new study says that young people across the nation are spending an average of about 7½ hours a day with entertainment media, and those who use more than one source at a time push the tally to about 10¾ hours in the same period. Predictably, heavy users report lower grades.
The study released Wednesday by the Kaiser Family Foundation found the greatest increase in entertainment media time...

Strong Bad’s Cool Game for striking People

Each single character has their real cartoon voice in the game, which is a huge plus. Compare that to the recent missing game where only half the cast supplied their acting talents. The voice performing in Strong Bad’s Cool Game For striking People is top notch and utterly hilarious. Even the least fan of the personality will be satisfied here.

Sound things like the Tarantula Black Metal Detector or even the moles Strong Bad gives illegal muscle building substances to are very funny and surprisingly spot-on. Telltale has put a lot of time and try into every sound gag in the game and it shows.

Danger to the Global Warm

Al Gore on compared the fight against climate change with the struggle against the Nazis. Wait, which side is he on? He also accused politicians about the world of exploiting ignorance about the dangers to the global warming… Moments shortly he imploded under the weight of his own hypocrisy.

We have everything we need accept political will, but political will is a renewable resource. So are trees, but luckily we will run out of Al Gore within the next 30 years?

Technology Issues

Is the Internet enabling us to develop or deepen our knowledge and skills ?Or, is it making us (falsely?) confident, and complacent, about our professional capabilities, because of our ability to quickly locate and use the necessary knowledge and on-line training resources just-in-time?
What is the guarantee or evidence in support of the veracity and reliability of Internet knowledge content ?
What statutory warnings would we need in regards our use of specific knowledge content available over the Internet?
Is meta knowledge beginning to dominate knowledge in various disciplines?
How lost should we be before we realize that we are lost?

Animal’s new creations

We have pets that have personalities and feelings, and can imagine and reason. It seems as though anything it is that makes each pet unique (a soul) is like that which makes each human unique. Therefore, we wonder if pets (or any other animals) go to paradise.

Before going on, it is most important to state that if pets do go to heaven, their owners will also have to go to paradise to see them. The Bible makes it clear that the mass of people will not go to heaven, see Matthew chapter 7, verses 13 and 14 (Mat 7:13, 14) for one example. Therefore, it is serious that we remind everyone that they need to get right with God themselves or their chances of seeing a departed pet again are zero.

There are several examples of animals associated with heaven (including 2 Kings 2:11, Revelation 5:13 and 19:11-14) or the 'new creation' (Isaiah 65:17-25). Still, the question is 'were these animals new creations or do these animals include reborn worldly creatures?' Let's look at the facts.
